I'm sure most of us will have been issued a defect notice at least once before, and i think it'd be a good idea to share what we've all been previously done for in this thread. Some things are just plain stupid, or funny. Who knows, you might just help someone out.
Also, if you've got around a defect, let us know!

Ill start. Back when my car was completely stock, i was harassed by cops one night to the point where the only thing they got me for was a little bit of oil on my firewall because my CV boot had tiny tare in it.. no fine though luckily. And today i got done for: 1. Ensure bonnet complies with vehicle safety standards. (My hood has vents and a forward facing scoop 'all OEM' off another model of my car, but he wasn't sure that it was ok.....) 2. Make winscreen washers operate. (my water pipe joining fitting snapped off, easy fix) 3.Secure air filter. (Pod wasnt 100% secure) 4. Ensure steering wheel is ADR compliant. (Center of steering wheel is steel - i dont think i can get around that..) I have to get it signed by a mechanic to wave the notice, so swap parts over, get approved, swap parts back I managed to get away with the fine because i fed them a bullshit conversation about the car and what i can do to make it legal etc etc. They liked my attitude so they dropped the $110 fine Winning.

If you have 2,3,4,5 point race harness, you must put the standard seat belt over the top of you or you will be fined for not driving with a ADR seat belt. I was booked in 2011. - iv seen a few of you buying them so beware!

Awww yeah. My kind of thread.
In the mazda; oil leak, to low, no H pattern, no horn button, No working horn, dished steering wheel, HID's.
In the accord; to low, 'to much' camber, stretched tyres, no h pattern, stripped interior with no mod plate, washer bottle not hooked up.
Done in both cars by the SAME cop about a month apart, was no fun.
